KAJANG, MALAYSIA, 30 April 2026 – Building on the success of the fifth ASEAN NCAP Collaborative Holistic Research (ANCHOR V) series, the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) is proud to announce the launch of ANCHOR VI.
The ANCHOR project aims to gather essential evidence on regional road safety characteristics, with a primary focus on Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. ANCHOR VI seeks to foster collaboration between ASEAN academia and industrial partners to produce concrete scientific evidence that addresses road safety challenges across the region. The findings from this research will play a vital role in shaping the upcoming ASEAN NCAP 2031–2035 Assessment Protocol.
ASEAN NCAP invites research proposals for the ANCHOR VI project covering the following critical safety topics:
• Accident Data Analysis
• Road Characteristics
• Driving Behaviour
• Consumer Acceptance and Behaviour towards Vehicle Safety Technologies
• Vehicle Testing Development
• Other Related Safety Topics
Grant Details
The grant amount will be determine based on the data volume and the extent of ASEAN coverage provided in the proposal. The anticipated duration for the project is approximately one and a half years.

To ensure a smooth application process, please take note of the following timeline:
• 4 May 2026: Proposal submission period begins
• 31 May 2026: Proposal submission deadline
• 22 June 2026: Research proposal tabling
• 14 July 2026: Official result announcement
